Gregg Wallace, the popular TV presenter, has vehemently denied allegations of making sexually inappropriate comments to a female colleague at the BBC back in 2018. The accusations claim that Wallace, aged 59, boasted about his sex life with his wife, Anna Wallace, and even went as far as taking his shirt off in front of the employee. These claims were reported by The Sun, sparking a public response from Wallace.
In a video posted on Instagram on Monday morning, Wallace addressed the allegations, stating that they had been investigated by the BBC six years ago and were found not to be of a sexual nature. He emphasised that he is deeply in love with his wife, Anna, and that it is crucial for him to make it clear that he does not engage in any behaviour that could be perceived as flirting with anyone other than his spouse.
Last year, Wallace made headlines when he decided to step down from his role as the host of Inside the Factory amidst similar accusations of inappropriate comments towards female staff. After serving as the presenter for seven seasons, Wallace stated his desire to spend more time with his young son. Reports from The Times suggested that an incident at a Nestlé factory in York also played a part in Wallace’s decision to leave the show. During this particular visit, comments made by Wallace were deemed inappropriate but not of a sexual nature, with some remarks reportedly concerning the weight of female staff members.
In response to the past allegations, Wallace’s representative provided a statement reiterating the reasons for his departure from the show. The representative emphasized that the decision was made based on factors unrelated to the inappropriate behaviour claims. Wallace has remained steadfast in denying any wrongdoing, stressing his commitment to his wife and his dedication to upholding respectful conduct in all his interactions.
