North Korea has issued a chilling threat to turn South Korea “into piles of ashes” following allegations of drones flying over Pyongyang. The North Korean defence ministry declared that its military stands ready to unleash “firepower” amidst rising tensions in the region.
The warning came after North Korea accused South Korea of sending drones into Pyongyang, which it deemed to be a provocative act of war. The foreign ministry in North Korea claimed that drones carrying propaganda leaflets had trespassed into its airspace multiple times in October, describing the content as “inflammatory rumours and rubbish”.
Initially, the South Korean defence minister denied these allegations, but the Joint Chiefs of Staff later stated that they could not confirm or refute the claims made by North Korea. In response, North Korea issued a preliminary operation order to its artillery to prepare for a potential military confrontation.
The North Korean defence ministry accused South Korea of taking an ambiguous stance and warned that the country could face dire consequences for its actions. It highlighted the seriousness of the situation and questioned how South Korea’s military and police failed to intercept the drone intrusions, hinting at possible involvement from the South’s authorities.
