Donald Trump has revealed his plans to hire Elon Musk as his Secretary For Cost-Cutting if he is re-elected as US President for a second term. During an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Trump expressed his intention to let Musk manage government trimming. When asked about the agencies he would want to shut down, Trump deferred the question to Musk, highlighting Musk’s capability as not only a science and rockets expert but also a proficient business figure known for his cost-cutting skills.
The former president elaborated on Musk’s talents, praising his ability to innovate even in areas like developing titanium screws. Trump emphasised that Musk would be entrusted with a new role in the administration as the secretary of cost-cutting, a position created specifically for him. While Musk won’t be joining the cabinet, Trump stated that Musk’s focus would be on cost reduction exclusively.
In addition to the cost-cutting responsibilities, Trump mentioned his desire for Musk to lead the mission of sending a rocket to Mars before the end of his potential administration term, aiming to beat China and Russia in the space race. This isn’t the first time Trump has considered bringing Musk into his administration, as he previously lauded Musk’s intelligence and expressed willingness to have him as an advisor or cabinet member.
