Elizabeth Olsen has disclosed how her fears and nightmares have influenced her decision to leave the United States and relocate to the United Kingdom. In an interview with The Guardian on September 29, the 35-year-old actress shared her concerns about the prevalence of gun violence in America, leading to unsettling dreams.
Olsen revealed, “I’ve died in a lot of dreams. I’ve been shot in the head and killed.” She expressed her distress over the issue of gun violence in the US, prompting thoughts of moving to the UK, especially after enjoying her time in London while filming the movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” in 2022.
Describing her feelings upon stepping outside and having a coffee in London, Olsen stated, “The immediate moment I stepped outside and had a coffee, I’m just calmed.” Despite acknowledging safety concerns worldwide, she emphasised feeling a sense of peace in London.
Gun violence in the US has been a pressing issue, with statistics showing it as the leading cause of death among children and teens for three consecutive years. A recent analysis by Johns Hopkins University reported that guns claimed the lives of 2,526 children aged one to 17 in 2022 alone, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Olsen had previously discussed her contemplation of moving to the UK during an interview on The Table Manners podcast in 2021, where she and her husband were living a blissful life in London. She expressed a fondness for England and a desire to find a way to remain in the country.
In addition to discussing her relocation plans, Olsen opened up about her struggles with mental health, including experiencing panic attacks throughout her twenties. She described the challenges she faced in managing anxiety and panic attacks, highlighting the need to find coping mechanisms for such issues.
