Nissan reveals pricing for the Ariya Nismo, a tuned-up electric crossover

Nissan has disclosed the pricing details for the highly-anticipated Ariya Nismo electric crossover, with the model set to start at £56,620. The company has also announced that pre-orders for the Ariya Nismo will officially begin in the UK on Thursday, 17th October.

Customers who reserve their Ariya Nismo will be entitled to a range of exclusive benefits, including limited-edition artwork and £500 worth of complimentary charging at over 55,000 public charge stations throughout the UK as part of Nissan’s innovative Nissan Charge service. Priced at around £6,000 more than the base model Nissan Ariya, the Nismo edition only commands a premium of £1,780 over its predecessor, the Ariya e-4orce 87 kWh Evolve.

The upgrades for the Ariya Nismo are not just skin-deep, encompassing enhancements to the exterior, interior and powertrain. Notably, the power output of the Nismo edition has been ramped up by over 100bhp compared to the standard Ariya, now delivering an impressive 429bhp along with a robust 600Nm of torque. While the car boasts an 87kWh battery, detailed range specifications have not been released by Nissan yet.

Regarding performance, Nissan claims that the Ariya Nismo can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in under five seconds, with a 50-70 sprint time of just 2.4 seconds – outshining even Nissan’s own R35 GT-R Nismo sports car. However, in comparison to its high-performance EV rivals, such as the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the Nismo edition falls slightly behind.

The Ariya Nismo features enhanced steering for greater feedback, a revised setup to give the car a more rear-wheel-drive feel, stiffer suspension, and a new Nismo drive mode. Nissan has also fine-tuned the ABS system for improved performance. External enhancements aimed at enhancing aerodynamics include a redesigned front bumper, extended rear diffuser, new wheels, and a rear spoiler.

In addition to the complimentary public charging, the first customers in the UK will also receive a unique 1-of-100 limited edition Ariya Nismo artwork created by Juan Alcalá Lara, the graphic artist behind Nissan’s Nismo Formula E art. The electric crossover also comes with an electric soundtrack that aims to capture the essence of the sound of an electric race car.

The introduction of the Ariya Nismo represents Nissan’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, offering customers a blend of performance, innovation and sustainability in a single package.
