Amazon recently announced the launch of a new range of Kindle devices, following a decade high in sales of the e-reader. The latest lineup includes the first-ever Kindle with a colour screen, an updated version of the Kindle Scribe e-reader and digital notebook, and a refreshed Kindle Paperwhite.
The new Kindle Colorsoft features a colour screen, wireless charging capabilities, up to eight weeks of battery life, and is waterproof. On the other hand, the new Kindle Scribe comes with a stylus called the Premium Pen, allowing users to make notes within books, with the text and page adaptively adjusting to accommodate annotations.
Eric Saarnio, vice president of Amazon Devices International, highlighted the increasing sales of Kindles, with a significant number of first-time buyers contributing to the surge. Saarnio expressed excitement about the new Kindle lineup, which has been meticulously crafted to provide the best possible experience for users.
The updated Kindle Paperwhite boasts being the thinnest and fastest model yet, with 25% faster page turns and a battery life of up to three months. Additionally, a new entry-level Kindle, starting at £94.99, has been introduced, weighing 158g and also available in a Kindle Kids version.
Emma Gilmartin, director of Kindle Europe, expressed that the new Kindle range caters to a diverse audience, offering something for everyone. Customers can now purchase the Kindle and Kindle Kids, as well as the new Kindle Paperwhite immediately. The Kindle Colorsoft will be available for purchase on October 30, starting at £269.99, while the Kindle Scribe is set to launch on December 4 for £379.99.
The Kindle has been a popular choice since its inception in 2007, evolving into various e-reader models.
