Disney is gearing up to unveil its new Lightning Lane Premier Pass later this month, but the price tag may come as a shock to some guests. The Walt Disney Co. has announced plans to introduce a new pass that will allow guests to access rides faster at its theme parks within the US. However, the cost of this new offering may prove to be too steep for many visitors.
The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is scheduled to launch at Disneyland on October 23 and at Disney World on October 30. This pass will provide guests with one-time access to each available Lightning Lane experience at the theme parks. It is important to note that guests will still need to purchase a separate admission ticket in order to enter the parks.
Similar to Disney’s existing Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass, the new Premier Pass will enable guests to bypass the standby line and utilise the Lightning Lane entrance to join a typically shorter line. Many guests utilise these passes to save time and make the most of their park visit, allowing them to enjoy more attractions, shows, and character meet and greets.
One key benefit of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is that guests do not have to select a specific arrival time for an attraction, unlike the Single Pass and Multi Pass options which require guests to choose a designated time slot. At Disneyland in California, the Premier Pass will be priced at $400 per person, per day, for access to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure until the end of the year. From next year onwards, pricing will fluctuate between $300 and $400, depending on the date and demand.
Over at Disney World in Florida, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available to guests staying at deluxe resorts, deluxe villa resorts, and select other hotels. Prices at launch will range from $129 to $449 per pass, depending on the date and the specific theme park being visited. The highest prices are expected to be during peak travel periods on limited days. The pass will grant entry to each available Lightning Lane entrance in one park for a single day. Please note there is currently no option to use the pass for multiple parks on the same day.
In addition to the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, guests will still have the option to use standby lines at most attractions and experiences. A virtual queue is also available for a select number of rides that do not offer standby lines. It is important to note that the Lightning Lane Premier passes will be available in limited quantities.
As Disney introduces this new offering to enhance guest experiences at its theme parks, the price point raises concerns for many guests who may find it challenging to afford this premium service. Disney aims to provide options for visitors looking to make the most of their time at the parks, but the cost may present a barrier for some.
