Jones cited an “unstable working environment” as the reason for his decision, while Walters is currently navigating his way out of his contractual notice period. Despite the challenges, Borthwick maintains that the backroom staff, including Richard Wigglesworth, Tom Harrison, Kevin Sinfield, and Andrew Strawbridge, remains stable.
Borthwick, in his first public statement since the coaches’ departure, acknowledged the disappointment and surprise at their decisions. However, he emphasised the strong coaching foundation in place and the interest from high-quality candidates eager to join the England team.
