A chilling message from a violent Scottish thug to his ex-wife has come to light, revealing the depth of control and abuse he inflicted on her. Natalie Morgan, a brave mother from North Ayrshire, has shared her harrowing story of enduring a three-year reign of terror at the hands of her ex-husband, Garry Corbett.
Natalie, aged 39, was subjected to a campaign of violence and controlling behaviour by Corbett, a 43-year-old brute from Dreghorn, Ayrshire. Recently, Corbett was convicted of domestic abuse charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, highlighting the seriousness of the abuse Natalie endured.
In a heartbreaking account, Natalie revealed how she felt brainwashed and lived in fear in her own home. She recalled a chilling final message from Corbett, stating, “the only reason you’re still walking and breathing is because I’ve chosen to let you.” Despite the trauma she faced, Natalie expressed relief that Corbett now has a criminal record.
The relationship between Natalie and Corbett started off seemingly perfect, with Corbett appearing as a gentleman. However, the situation quickly escalated, with Corbett displaying controlling and violent behaviours. Natalie described how he would bombard her with messages, dictate her appearance, and become threatening and violent, leading to the destruction of property and physical assault.
Following a series of incidents spanning from May 2019 to October 2022, Corbett was convicted of domestic abuse charges and sentenced to a community payback order of 200 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, he was ordered to stay away from Natalie for three years. Natalie’s courage in speaking out about her ordeal serves to raise awareness of domestic abuse and empower other victims to break the silence.
Since Corbett’s arrest, Natalie has been supported by Women’s Aid and received a diagnosis of PTSD after counselling. Despite the challenges she faced, Natalie remains strong and determined to move forward with her life. She is involved in a group advocating for legal changes to support victims of domestic abuse, and she sees Corbett’s conviction as a significant step forward in her healing journey.
