Peugeot e-208 Review: A Stylish and Compact Electric Vehicle
The Peugeot e-208 is making waves as a stylish and compact electric hatchback, impressing drivers with its recent updates and longer range. Despite hitting the market in 2019, this electric vehicle continues to compete strongly in its class.
The attractiveness of the Peugeot e-208 lies in its value for money, offering affordable running costs especially with the right charging set-up at home or work. With the introduction of a newer 51 kWh battery option, the e-208 boasts a decent battery range of around 200 miles in real-world conditions, which is ample for most users. While it may not be the go-to choice for long-distance journeys, its energy efficiency and support for 100kW charging make it a reliable option.
Behind the wheel, the e-208 provides an enjoyable driving experience, particularly excelling in urban environments where most drivers are likely to utilise it. The car’s bold interior design adds to its appeal, giving it a fresh and contemporary feel that stands out from its competitors.
The Independent had the opportunity to put the Peugeot e-208 to the test, covering various terrains from rural roads to seaside trips. The review highlighted the car’s smart interior, good energy efficiency, and overall reasonable value. However, there were some drawbacks noted, including polarising ergonomics, average range, and limited back-seat space.
In terms of pricing, the Peugeot e-208 ranges from £28,200 to £32,850, making it one of the more affordable electric vehicles on the market after a £3000 price reduction in summer 2024. The entry-level trim, Active, comes well-equipped, with additional features available in the higher-spec Allure trim.
For tech enthusiasts, the e-208 offers a modern and sleek interior design, featuring a 10-inch infotainment screen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mirroring. The top trims also include advanced features like a reversing camera and keyless entry.
Despite being on the market for a few years, the Peugeot e-208 remains a strong contender in the electric vehicle segment, thanks to its competitive pricing, efficient performance, and stylish design. As the push for sustainable transportation grows, the e-208 stands out as a reliable and appealing option for eco-conscious drivers.
