Detective Chief Inspector Bob Williamson, the leading officer in the investigation of Suzanne Pilley’s murder, has made a heartfelt plea to her convicted killer, David Gilroy, to disclose the whereabouts of her body. Suzanne Pilley, a 38-year-old bookkeeper, went missing on May 4, 2010, in Edinburgh. Her former partner, David Gilroy, was found guilty of her murder in 2012 and is currently serving a life sentence. Despite being convicted, Gilroy has maintained his innocence and has not cooperated in revealing the location of Suzanne’s remains.
During an appearance on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live show, DCI Williamson emphasised the importance of bringing closure to Suzanne’s family by uncovering her body. He described Gilroy’s actions post-murder as calculated and cold, with efforts made to conceal Suzanne’s body. DCI Williamson highlighted the continuing efforts of the police to locate Suzanne, especially after her father passed away in 2019 without being able to lay her to rest.
DCI Williamson urged anyone who may have witnessed Gilroy’s silver Vauxhall Vectra in the wooded areas between Tyndrum and Inverary in Argyll on the day after Suzanne’s disappearance to come forward. He stressed the significance of any information, no matter how small, in guiding the search efforts. DCI Williamson also mentioned a potential identifiable feature, a red and white umbrella on the back parcel shelf of Gilroy’s vehicle, which could aid in the search.
The ongoing quest to find Suzanne Pilley’s body has been a top priority for Police Scotland, with repeated appeals made to the public for any pertinent information. Suzanne’s family has shown remarkable strength throughout the ordeal, and DCI Williamson hopes that finding her remains and enabling a proper burial will bring solace to her loved ones.
