Drug kingpin Demetrius ‘Big Meech’ Flenory has left federal prison to enter a residential program in Miami, according to reports from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Flenory, who co-founded the notorious drug trafficking organization Black Mafia Family, is set to serve out the remainder of his prison sentence in this reentry program in Miami.
Originally sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted in 2008 for drug trafficking and money laundering, the 56-year-old Flenory has been recently transferred to the residential program in Miami. His high-profile story was also adapted into an eight-episode series titled “BMF” by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson on Starz in 2021. The series explored the journey of the Flenory brothers from inner-city Detroit to becoming influential drug kingpins embraced by the hip-hop culture in the 1980s.
Demetrius Flenory, who was arrested in 2005, is scheduled for release on Jan. 27, 2026, as per information from the federal prison website. During the interim period, he will be under the supervision of the residential reentry center in Miami, tasked with offering community-based services to aid in his reentry process. Meanwhile, his brother Terry Flenory, aged 54, is serving a similar sentence at a residential reentry center in Detroit with a release date set for Aug. 17, 2025, as per federal prison records.
No immediate response has been provided by Demetrius Flenory’s lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, about his relocation to Miami. The Flenory brothers’ story continues to capture public interest and intrigue as it unfolds within the criminal justice system.
