### Kilmarnock Nursery Receives Financial Support from Barratt Homes
Children attending Cairns Early Childhood Centre in Kilmarnock are set to enjoy an enhanced outdoor learning environment, thanks to a generous financial donation from Barratt Homes. This funding aims to facilitate improvements in the nursery’s garden area, ensuring a more enriching experience for the infants and toddlers who frequent the outdoor space.
As part of its seasonal campaign, “Planting Roots,” Barratt Homes is extending financial assistance to various schools and nurseries in proximity to its housing developments across Scotland. The initiative invites early learning centres to transform their outdoor environments into vibrant, eco-friendly spaces. Each of the five participating establishments had the opportunity to receive £500 to invest in their grounds, fostering natural play and outdoor learning.
At Cairns Early Childhood Centre, located on Altonhill Avenue, the funding will be dedicated to enhancing the outdoor garden area used by the nursery’s young charges. Plans include constructing an eco-fence that ensures privacy while also serving as a natural habitat beneficial for local insect life.
Victoria Black, a Sales Adviser at Barratt Homes’ Lairds Gait development in Kilmarnock, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting local education. “We are delighted to contribute to Cairns Early Childhood Centre with this donation,” she remarked. “The children will not only enjoy the benefits of a natural eco-fence, but they will also play a role in maintaining a habitat for local wildlife.”
The nursery children have enthusiastically participated in the project, engaging in activities such as planning, planting, and caring for the area. This hands-on involvement promotes creativity, wellbeing, and a strong connection with nature, fundamentally enriching their early learning experiences.
Martin McMullen, Senior Early Learning & Childcare Practitioner at Cairns, commented, “Creating this new learning space has been an incredible journey for our kids. They have helped select plants, dig holes, and watch everything flourish. It has ignited their curiosity and sense of responsibility, which is a joy to observe. We are immensely grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for making this possible.”
Cairns Early Childhood Centre is one of several establishments benefiting from this initiative, with additional centres located in cities such as Aberdeen, Nairn, Fife, and Edinburgh participating alongside.
As Barratt Homes continues to develop three and four-bedroom homes in the nearby Lairds Gait area, priced from £229,995, the company reaffirms its commitment to creating vibrant communities that extend beyond housing to include educational and recreational enhancements.
In conclusion, the financial boost from Barratt Homes not only supports Cairns Early Childhood Centre but also underscores the importance of nurturing future generations through improved educational environments. By blending nature with learning, this initiative fosters a deep-rooted appreciation for the environment among young children, demonstrating the power of community engagement in shaping our educational landscapes.
