José Saralegui, a registered Republican, questioned Trump’s belief in his own fabricated statement that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were consuming animals.
During the town hall in Doral, Florida, Trump responded to Saralegui’s question by stating, “This was just reported. I was just saying what was reported, that’s been reported, and eating other things, too, that they’re not supposed to be.” Saralegui expressed his disappointment with Trump’s answers at the event, quoting, “I wasn’t amazed by any of his answers.”
Despite being a Republican, Saralegui revealed that he will not be supporting Trump in the upcoming election. He confirmed that he did not vote for Trump in the previous elections in 2016 and 2020. Saralegui pointed out that Trump’s rhetoric had not changed and recalled the derogatory comments made by Trump about Mexicans during his earlier campaigns.
