In an exciting development for mountain biking enthusiasts, the inaugural “battle of the clans” event is set to kick off in Perthshire. The much-anticipated Clans @ The Croft event will take place at Comrie Croft’s renowned mountain biking trail network. Originally scheduled for April 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic, the event will finally come to life on Sunday, October 27.
Participants can look forward to the thrill of racing as part of a clan, a three-member team, or as solo riders. The event will see the convergence of professional mountain bikers representing various clans, as well as amateur clans eager to showcase their skills on the 21km trail network running through the picturesque Strathearn hills and woods at Comrie Croft.
For those not competing but keen on involvement, volunteering opportunities ranging from trail building to marshalling are available, catering to individuals of all ages and abilities. Muckmedden Events successfully secured £7500 from the Rural Perth and Kinross Community-Led Local Development Local Action Group to host this year’s event.
Aaron Gray from Muckmedden Events expressed delight at receiving the funding, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the event experience for participants. The grant is seen as a crucial stepping stone for the future growth of the team enduro event. The competition will feature riders navigating five blind stages filled with challenges like jumps, berms, roots, rock slabs, and exclusive off-piste sections. Additionally, ebikers will have the opportunity to ride what is touted as the greatest Power Stage in history. Clans will combine their race times to compete against other teams while still earning individual results based on their performances.
