Alec Baldwin made a highly-anticipated return to “Saturday Night Live,” not to reprise his Emmy-winning role as former President Donald Trump, but to spoof Fox News’ Bret Baier in a skit mocking this week’s interview with Kamala Harris. The audience erupted in cheers as Baldwin appeared on stage, portraying Baier and joking about his appearance, “Yes, I do look like someone made a businessman in Minecraft.”
Baldwin’s rapid interruptions of Maya Rudolph’s portrayal of Harris mirrored the real-life interview, with humorous back-and-forth exchanges. The skit playfully highlighted Baier’s tendency to interrupt, with Rudolph finally exclaiming, “May I please finish?” to which Baldwin retorted, “I’m asking you to.”
The satirical sketch also featured a nod to a real-life mishap by Baier, where Baldwin comically played the wrong clip of a Trump response. The skit incorporated mini-skits, including Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden, before closing with Harris delivering the iconic line, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!” with Baldwin by her side.
Hosting the show was “Beetlejuice” star Michael Keaton, with Billie Eilish as the musical guest. Baldwin, who holds the record for hosting “SNL” 17 times, has not appeared on the show recently due to his involuntary manslaughter trial related to the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the film “Rust.”
The actor’s return to the iconic sketch comedy show brought laughter and entertainment to fans once again, showcasing his comedic talent and ability to bring beloved characters to life on screen.
