A man is missing after falling into a reservoir while paddleboarding, with rescue efforts currently ongoing. The incident occurred at Dovestone Reservoir, where emergency services were called just before 2.30pm. The man and a woman, both in their late 20s, reportedly fell off a paddleboard into the water during a sunny spell. Tragically, the man encountered difficulties in the water while the woman was successfully rescued and treated for hypothermia and shock.
Emergency crews swiftly responded to the scene, cordoning off surrounding roads and footpaths. A massive search operation involving fire crews, paramedics, and police, as well as specialist divers, coastguard, and mountain rescue teams, was launched. Despite challenging conditions with plummeting temperatures and strong winds, the search continued into the evening.
As darkness enveloped the area, search teams remained active both on the water and along the embankment. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their ongoing presence at the reservoir, emphasizing the continuous efforts to locate the missing man.
