**UK Leads in Harnessing Generative Artificial Intelligence, Report Reveals**
A recent report has highlighted that the UK stands to benefit the most from generative artificial intelligence (AI) among the G7 nations. According to new modelling conducted by Accenture, the adoption of generative AI could potentially nearly double the UK’s economic growth trajectory.
The research indicates that the public sector, in particular, could witness significant productivity gains through the implementation of generative AI. For instance, a doctor could save up to five working hours per week through the use of this advanced technology.
Accenture emphasizes the importance of taking proactive steps now to leverage generative AI effectively for maximum impact. The report suggests that this form of advanced automation could substantially boost the UK’s economic growth over the next 15 years, surpassing the potential impact on other G7 nations, including the US.
By reallocating freed-up time towards tasks that are less susceptible to automation, the average annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth from 2023 to 2038 could potentially increase from 1.6% to 3%, according to Accenture’s projections.
Shaheen Sayed, who heads Accenture in the UK, Ireland and Africa, underscores the significant opportunity that generative AI presents for tackling the UK’s longstanding productivity challenges. The study indicates that on average, workers could save 18% of their time spent on routine activities, with professionals like doctors and commercial sales representatives benefiting significantly from time savings. In the UK public sector, excluding healthcare, generative AI has the potential to enhance nearly half of the working hours.
