Leading business bosses in Lanarkshire are set to take part in a unique fundraising event organised by Maggie’s Lanarkshire to support cancer patients. The event, called ‘Jail or Bail’, will require participants to be ‘locked up’ until they have raised enough funds to secure their release. Some of the ‘crimes’ they will be ‘charged’ with include ‘subjecting peers to unsolicited singing and guitar performances’ and ‘failure to declare wins at recent golf events’.
The fundraising challenge will take place at the HFD Group offices in Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill. Participants will be photographed, face a judge to have their ‘bail’ set, and will need to engage with their networks to raise the necessary funds. Among the notable participants are David Equi, CEO of Equi’s Ice Cream; Dawn Oliver, Finance Control & Office Manager at BPS Group; Claire Bryce, Director at Callan Bid Services, and Barbara McKnight.
Maggie’s Lanarkshire Centre Fundraising Manager, Val Smith, expressed gratitude to all those involved in the event for their support. The majority of the charity’s funding comes from voluntary donations, making creative initiatives like ‘Jail or Bail’ crucial for their work in providing vital support to cancer patients and their families.
The event has generated excitement within the business community, with HFD Group generously providing facilities and catering for the day.
