Stonehouse Freemasons’ Generosity Benefits Lanarkshire Groups
A heartening display of charity was seen in Lanarkshire recently as the Freemasons of Stonehouse showcased their generosity. Lodge Union 244 in the village donated a total of £4000 to eight different groups following their annual sponsored walk. The event, which has been running since 1999, gathered over 50 walkers who completed the challenging trek from Strathclyde Park to Stonehouse to raise funds for these worthy causes.
Various local charities and youth groups were recipients of this goodwill gesture from the Freemasons. The Royal Albert FC, after recently completing the Community Asset Transfer from Tileworks Park, was one of the fortunate beneficiaries, receiving a cheque of £1000. Other groups that benefited included Friends of Stonehouse Park, the Trust Jack Foundation, St Ninian’s Foodbank, and Lanarkshire Cancer Care Drivers, each receiving £500. Additionally, the Stonehouse Scout Group and the Alma Group received £250 each.
Right Worshipful Master Callum Macgregor of Lodge Union expressed his delight in being able to support these organisations, acknowledging the invaluable work they do within the community. He highlighted the positive turnout for the sponsored walk, not only from the Freemasons themselves but also from their families and friends who extended their support.
