A Dunblane mother and son have achieved an impressive feat by conquering a three peaks challenge in just one day. Barbara Annis and Murray Templeton took on this gruelling challenge as part of their efforts to raise funds for the Boys Brigade Malawi 25 project. The duo successfully climbed three of the region’s well-known peaks within eight hours over the weekend.
Their adventure started at Ben Ledi in the Trossachs, followed by Ben A’an, and culminated with Dumyat. Despite the varying weather conditions, including cold and cloudy skies at the beginning, Barbara and Murray pushed through the challenges. Barbara led the way for Murray as they tackled each peak, with their friends supporting them along the journey.
Murray is part of a 17-strong group from Dunblane Boys Brigade preparing to travel to Malawi in July 2025 to support the town’s partnership community in Likhubula. Barbara’s employer, Edrington, and The Robertson Trust are quadrupling all donations made towards her sponsorship efforts. They are encouraging donations through their JustGiving page and are grateful for any support from the public to aid the entire team’s trip to Malawi.
In addition to the fundraising climb, Barbara is organising a Whisky Tasting evening to further support the cause. The event is scheduled for Friday, November 1, at Dunblane Cathedral Halls, featuring six Islay drams along with commentary and comedy from Colin Anderson.
