MMA Fighter Banned from Boxing for Life After Controversial Knockout
Idris Abdurashidov, a mixed martial arts fighter, has been banned from boxing for life after delivering a controversial knockout blow with a head kick on his debut in the sport. The Russian fighter, who boasts a 4-0 record in MMA with four first-round knockouts, found himself in hot water after his boxing debut on Sunday in Thailand.
During the fight, Abdurashidov was up against Bagher Faraji, an unbeaten Iranian opponent. In the fourth round, under pressure from Faraji, Abdurashidov threw a head kick that sent his opponent crashing to the ground unconscious. The referee quickly intervened, waving off the bout and disqualifying Abdurashidov for the illegal blow.
Abdurashidov later took to Instagram to share footage of the incident, where he stated, “So I debuted in professional boxing, and disqualification for life.” He also expressed pride in his technique, claiming, “That kick with the leg, I threw like a machine gun.” Surprisingly, he also posted a photo of himself and Faraji shaking hands with the caption, “We shook hands between us, everything is a fight, we made up.”
However, reactions from social media users were swift and critical of Abdurashidov’s actions. One commenter accused him of cheating, calling his move “classless,” while another pointed out his attempts to evade Faraji after the kick, suggesting that he would have been knocked out if the fight had continued.
Abdurashidov’s Instagram profile indicates a successful 3-0 record in Muay Thai in addition to his MMA achievements. Despite his talent in combat sports, the controversial knockout incident has led to a lifetime ban from boxing for the young fighter.
