Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Arrested on Sex Trafficking Charges

Reports have emerged stating that the former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, Mike Jeffries, has been arrested on sex trafficking charges following an FBI investigation. The arrest took place on Tuesday morning and also included his partner, Matthew Smith, along with another individual.

The federal sex trafficking investigation began last year after allegations arose claiming that Jeffries and Smith had been involved in the sexual abuse and exploitation of men at various events in New York and globally. A lawyer representing some of the alleged victims confirmed the arrests, describing them as a significant step towards achieving justice for those who were exploited and abused in what is believed to be a longstanding sex-trafficking scheme under the guise of Abercrombie.

Both Jeffries and Smith have previously denied any wrongdoing in relation to these charges. Jeffries had stepped down from his position at the international clothing company back in 2014, and since then, accusations have surfaced suggesting that he had been running a sex trafficking operation during his leadership.

The situation escalated when David Bradberry, a former model for Abercrombie & Fitch, filed a lawsuit against the fashion retailer, alleging that Jeffries operated a sex-trafficking organization throughout his 22-year tenure. The lawsuit was prompted by a BBC investigation revealing that Jeffries and his British partner allegedly exploited young adult men for sex during events in London, New York, and Marrakesh.

The lawsuit accused Jeffries of leveraging his authority to lure over 100 male victims by offering free clothes, gift cards, and false promises of modeling opportunities. Abercrombie & Fitch responded to the allegations, stating their zero-tolerance policy towards abuse, harassment, or discrimination of any form.

The company highlighted their efforts in transforming their brands and culture under new leadership, distancing themselves from the past allegations. As more information unfolds regarding the arrests and charges, the case is sure to generate significant attention in the coming days.
