Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO, Mike Jeffries, along with two other men, was arrested on Tuesday following accusations of overseeing an international sex trafficking ring, according to a federal indictment unveiled recently. Mike Jeffries, 80, served as the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch from 1992 to 2014. He played a pivotal role in transforming the brand into a prominent retailer targeting teenagers and young adults through bold marketing tactics like using scantily clad models outside stores. The indictment also includes accusations against Smith, 61, and Jacobson, 71, who allegedly acted as a recruiter for the men.
The trio is accused of running a vast trafficking enterprise between 2008 and 2015, organizing sex events in prominent locations such as the Hamptons in New York, cities across Europe like London, Paris, Rome, as well as in Morocco and other places. Jacobson was allegedly responsible for recruiting and vetting men for these events, which involved coercing them into performing sexual acts.
The indictment reveals disturbing details of the operation, including how the men were groomed physically, coerced into signing non-disclosure agreements, and forced to consume alcohol and drugs to facilitate the activities at these sex events.
