A couple who engaged in “sexual activity” on a busy flight to Glasgow Airport have avoided a prison sentence. Ewa Borowicz and Konrad Olendrzynski performed sex acts on each other on a Jet2 flight between Antalya Airport, in Turkey, and Glasgow Airport. Borowicz, 47, and Olendrzynski, 43, were found guilty after a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court of carrying out the acts on December 4, 2021. The offence was committed in front of an 11-year-old child and airline staff.
Borowicz’s defence agent, Robert Mitchell, explained that she “expresses shame and remorse.” He added, “Of course, she understands what happened and where it happened was serious. But given her limited record, I would urge the court to impose an alternative.” Olendrzynski’s defence agent, David Nicholson, explained that his client “recognises his actions were inappropriate.”
The town’s court heard that Borowicz has a previous conviction of sexual assault, which resulted in her being placed on the sex offenders’ register. Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill criticized the couple, of Queensway in Annan, Dumfriesshire, stating, “I found you both guilty after trial. You both should be utterly ashamed of yourselves.”
Sheriff Gill continued, “Taking everything into account, there is no doubt this is a very serious matter but given the report and the risk assessments I’ll impose an alternative.” Borowicz was ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work in the community, and Olendrzynski was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. Both were made subject to supervision of the social work department for six months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for the same period.
