A Texas mother of four, Suzanne Clark Simpson, has been missing for over two weeks, and a new arrest has been made in connection to her disappearance. James Vallee Cotter, a business associate of Suzanne’s husband Brad Simpson, was arrested at his home on Monday on charges of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, as announced by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Records from the Bexar County Jail indicate that Cotter, 65, was booked in the early hours of Tuesday. He faces additional charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. Cotter, the son of the late real estate tycoon James F. Cotter, has a 25-year relationship with Brad Simpson.
Suzanne Clark Simpson, 51, was last seen in a physical altercation with her husband at their home in Olmos Park on the night of October 7. Brad Simpson, 53, was subsequently arrested on October 9 on charges of assault causing bodily injury-family violence and unlawful restraint. He remains in custody on a $2 million bond and has reportedly not been cooperative with authorities.
Law enforcement officials conducted a search of a local landfill site last week in their efforts to locate Suzanne but have not yet found any trace of her. An affidavit for Cotter’s arrest suggests that he assisted Brad Simpson in hiding an AK-47 rifle believed to be linked to Suzanne’s disappearance.
According to the affidavit, Brad Simpson allegedly contacted Cotter on October 8 requesting him to meet at his house in Bandera and to hide certain items, including the mentioned firearm. Further investigation revealed that Cotter had concealed the rifle behind a wall-mounted television in his own home. Cotter misled investigators about the weapon but was ultimately discovered by a K9 team.
