Lanarkshire’s Lord Lieutenant urges nominations for 2025 King’s Award for Voluntary Service
Lanarkshire’s Lord Lieutenant is calling on residents to nominate individuals for the 2025 King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) as the deadline draws near. The award is the highest accolade given to volunteer groups across the UK, acknowledging exceptional work within their communities. Established in 2002 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), this recognition has been honouring the remarkable efforts of voluntary groups for many years.
Equivalent to an MBE, the KAVS is the most prestigious award bestowed upon local volunteer groups, and recipients hold the title for life. Lady Susan Haughey CBE, the Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, expressed her support for the nomination process, stating, “I am very much aware of the many groups in the county where so many volunteers give freely of their talents and time for the benefit of others. I would encourage anyone who is aware of a group providing exceptional service in their area to consider nominating them for an award.”
