Work has commenced on a significant housing development project in Renton, with Cordale Housing Association initiating a £5.4 million development that will see the construction of 25 new homes at Dalquhurn Lane in the village. The Scottish Government has allocated £2.6 million towards this project, which is expected to be completed by August 2025. The contractor, AS Homes, kicked off the construction last week, with plans to build 15 two-bedroom houses, eight three-bedroom houses, and two four-bedroom houses.
Cordale Housing Association, which became a subsidiary of the Caledonia Housing Association in 2013, aims to provide the area with high-quality, sustainable, and energy-efficient homes. The Cordale Committee, along with CHA’s Chief Executive and members of the local Renton team, visited the site to commemorate the beginning of the works. They were joined by Jackie Baillie, MSP for Dumbarton and Convener of Housing and Communities, as well as Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal from West Dunbartonshire Council.
Martin Walker, Chair of Cordale Housing Association, expressed his excitement about fulfilling the long-term vision of developing homes to transform the Dalquhurn area, adding to the existing 500 high-quality social homes in Renton. Julie Cosgrove, Chief Executive of Caledonia Housing Association, highlighted the commitment to the development and the support received from local partners like West Dunbartonshire Council and the Scottish Government.
MSP Jackie Baillie emphasized the importance of addressing the shortage of social housing, praising Cordale Housing for their efforts in providing much-needed homes for the socially-rented sector. Paul Kelly, Managing Director of AS Homes Scotland, acknowledged the partnership with Cordale Housing Association in delivering thoughtfully designed homes for the Renton community. Scottish Government’s Housing Minister Paul McLennan commended the project, highlighting the commitment to providing warm and safe homes for the local community.
