Kamala Harris’ Motorcade Almost Hit by Wrong-Way Driver
Vice President Kamala Harris’s motorcade narrowly escaped a collision with a suspected drunk driver travelling in the wrong direction on a Milwaukee highway on Monday, 21 October. The 55-year-old unidentified driver came within feet of the vice president’s motorcade on Interstate 94.
Authorities shared that sheriff’s deputies following the motorcade intervened and stopped the vehicle, subsequently taking the driver into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Upon further inspection, officers discovered an open container of alcohol in the driver’s vehicle, as per James Burnett, a Milwaukee County Sheriff spokesperson.
The driver allegedly claimed to authorities that he was heading home after a night out and was unaware that he was driving the wrong way on the road, Burnett elaborated.
