**West Lothian Volunteer Recognized for Exceptional Work with Young People**
A dedicated volunteer in West Lothian has been honoured for her exceptional work supporting young people in the local community. Jordan Dunlop has been volunteering at At the Root Arts CIC, a West Lothian-based organisation, for over two years. She was recently presented with a well-deserved Volunteer Award by The Centre, Livingston. The award, part of an initiative to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of individuals who selflessly dedicate their time to help others, included a personalised framed certificate and a £100 Gift Card for Jordan.
At the Root Arts CIC, founded by Matthew Swan in 2015, is a creative arts organisation that focuses on providing engaging and meaningful workshops, projects, and events in communities. The organisation aims to create a nurturing space for young people to build confidence, explore their talents, and express themselves fully. Activities include drama workshops across West Lothian, as well as projects like Creative Beans & Sprouts and Eco-Craft Warriors.
Jordan’s role at At the Root Arts CIC involves assisting children and young people during activities and events. She takes on leadership responsibilities, such as managing registers, leading games and activities, and providing excellent customer service. Jordan is well-known and respected by both parents and children in the groups she supports.
Expressing her gratitude, Jordan said, “I am extremely grateful to At the Roots for taking me on. Volunteering is a rewarding experience for both the organisation and the community. At the Root embodies values that are crucial for children as well as for personal growth.” Jordan’s friend, Dot, highlighted Jordan’s dedication, despite facing challenges due to her Cerebral Palsy, stating, “She really enjoys seeing the children grow in confidence, and it’s clear to see she’s also grown in confidence too.”
Matthew Swan, founder of At the Root Arts CIC, commended Jordan for her invaluable contributions, noting her growth in confidence and leadership skills. The Centre, Livingston’s Centre Director, Patrick Robbertze, praised Jordan’s commitment and presented her with the Volunteer Award. He stated, “She’s definitely very deserving of the Award.”
