A dog trainer has highlighted three large dog breeds that he strongly advises against, particularly warning against keeping one breed around children. In third place, he mentioned the Tibetan Mastiff, describing it as a “monster of a dog” that can weigh up to 68kg and stand at 26 inches tall. Garret cautioned that the Tibetan Mastiff is capable of taking down an entire pack of wolves, questioning the suitability of having such a dog around small children due to their strength. He also highlighted their stubborn nature, making training challenging and suggesting that they may not be the best fit for everyone.
The Great Dane was placed second on the list by Garret, primarily due to its massive size, with the potential to grow up to 91kg in weight and 32 inches in height. Finally, Garret identified the Cane Corso as the top breed he does not recommend for families, as these dogs can weigh around 50kg and stand at 28 inches tall. Describing them as “battle tanks,” Garret expressed that the Cane Corso may be too much dog for the majority of people, including those living in suburban neighbourhoods.
