Big Brother Facing Boycott as Fans Outraged by ITV Decision to Remove Pro-Palestine T-shirt
Big Brother is under fire as fans express fury over ITV’s controversial move to digitally erase a pro-Palestine symbol from a contestant’s T-shirt. The contestant in question, Ali Bromley, a 38-year-old forensic psychologist, wore a T-shirt featuring a map with modern-day Israel depicted as a watermelon on the episode aired on 22nd October. The watermelon, designed in the colors of the Palestinian flag, is a symbol associated with the pro-Palestine movement, which has faced bans and restrictions over the years.
Following complaints about the T-shirt being critical of Israel, ITV decided to remove the episode from its streaming platform, ITVX, edit out the symbol from the T-shirt, and re-upload the altered episode. This move sparked further controversy when ITV stated that the garment “could be deemed harmful.” Organizations such as the Campaign Against Antisemitism labeled the image as an antisemitic “genocidal message.” However, supporters of Bromley argue that the T-shirt symbolizes support for Palestinians facing alleged ethnic cleansing.
Calls for boycotting the show have intensified, with critics accusing ITV of double standards by allowing controversial views of right-wing figures like Nigel Farage to air without censorship. This has led to social media users urging others to boycott the show in protest against what they see as hypocrisy.

Bromley’s T-shirt, identified as a “Freedom Melon Tee” from Wear The Peace, supports a charity that provides aid to people in Gaza.
