Paedo charity worker watched Marvel movies with kids before molesting them

A charity worker, Ryan Kinnear, has been sentenced to two years and five months in prison for sexually assaulting teenage girls after inviting them to his home to watch Marvel movies. Kinnear’s actions were described as predatory and having a significant impact on his three victims. The 35-year-old was found guilty of the assaults by a jury at Perth Sheriff Court after a three-day trial.

During the trial, it was revealed that Kinnear abused his victims by using a massage gun on one and preying on another while she was sleeping. He was found guilty of a series of charges and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life by Sheriff Jennifer Bain KC. She highlighted that Kinnear had abused his position of trust for his own sexual gratification and had caused lasting harm to his victims.

The court heard how Kinnear, from Perth, had gained the trust of his victims, who saw him as a confidante. He abused two girls while giving them massages, and he showed superhero movies to his younger victims. One victim, stressed about exams, was told by Kinnear that she needed to know what she liked as a young woman.

The police investigation into Kinnear began when one victim spoke to a teacher after learning about sexual abuse in a class. Despite Kinnear claiming the victims were lying, the jury found him guilty on multiple charges. As he left the dock, a bystander shouted, “F****** paedo.”

Kinnear was convicted of sexually assaulting and communicating with a 13-year-old, sexually assaulting and communicating with a 15-year-old, and sexually assaulting an 18-year-old. A fourth charge was found not proven by the jury.

The actions of Ryan Kinnear serve as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals and the consequences of breaching trust. The sentence handed down reflects the severity of his crimes and the impact they have had on the lives of the victims.

In conclusion, the case highlights the need for vigilance in safeguarding vulnerable individuals and the importance of swift and effective action in response to reports of abuse. It serves as a reminder of the duty of care that those in positions of trust hold towards those they are supposed to protect. Such cases underscore the critical role of the justice system in holding perpetrators accountable for their actions and ensuring justice for the victims.
