Renfrew Burgh Band has struck the right chord once again, emerging victoriously in a prestigious competition. This band, which has been captivating audiences in and around Renfrewshire for over a century, managed to secure the trophy for Best Second Section Band at the West of Scotland Entertainment Contest in Troon, South Ayrshire. Under the direction of musical conductor Mark Good, Renfrew Burgh Band wowed adjudicator Sheona White with a diverse programme that kicked off with an energetic rendition of the Bangles’ Walk Like an Egyptian. Principal cornetist Ash Paton showcased his talent in the polka Miss Blue Bonnet. The mood then shifted to a more reflective tone with the hymn, Lord of All Hopefulness, before wrapping up with an original composition by Gareth Bowman, Air and Journey.
