A Scottish soldier has been discharged from the army after sending explicit images of his genitals to a woman. Adam Scott McNee, hailing from Glasgow, was found guilty of disgraceful conduct of an indecent nature at a military court in the Court Martial Centre, Catterick, on September 4. He had pleaded guilty to the offence on June 27. McNee, serving as a Sergeant Major in the 102nd Battalion The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, was handed a suspended ten-month jail sentence and was required to complete 240 hours of unpaid work within a year. Additionally, he was dismissed from the Armed Forces and demoted in rank.
The army spokesperson highlighted the commitment to supporting victims of indecent and sexual behaviour and emphasized zero tolerance towards such actions within the Armed Forces. McNee has since transitioned to working as a driving instructor at the ASM School of Motoring in the Glasgow area. ASM School of Motoring, where McNee is listed as a director, continues to operate in East Kilbride, Castlemilk, and Glasgow. The driving school, registered with The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), focuses on providing a safe and enjoyable learning environment for driving enthusiasts.
Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) are required to disclose any criminal convictions to the DVSA for assessment of their suitability. The DVSA prioritizes the safety of learner drivers and handles complaints confidentially. Regarding McNee’s conduct, an Army Spokesperson stated that his actions did not align with the high standards expected within the Armed Forces, resulting in his dismissal. The spokesperson underlined the determination to eradicate unacceptable behaviours and address all allegations seriously.
