Wishaw MSP throws support behind Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Awareness Month

Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson has pledged her support for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) Awareness Month, set to take place in November. CRPS is a chronic condition that primarily affects the limbs, causing severe pain and changes in bones, joints, skin, swelling, temperature, and colour. The disorder can lead to debilitating pain that is disproportionate to the initial injury, often following trauma like surgery, stroke, or heart attack.

Ms. Adamson, the Motherwell and Wishaw MSP, has submitted a Parliamentary motion to recognise CRPS Awareness Month and highlight the importance of raising awareness for this under-recognized condition. She emphasised the need for more research and understanding of CRPS to improve treatment options and support for affected individuals.

CRPS Awareness Month includes events like Colour the World Orange Day on the first Monday of November, encouraging businesses and landmarks to illuminate in orange to show solidarity with CRPS sufferers. Various activities and initiatives will be organized throughout the month to shed light on the challenges faced by those living with CRPS and promote education and support for the condition.

The SNP MSP urged the public to engage in conversations about CRPS, share information, and support those experiencing similar symptoms. By increasing awareness and understanding of CRPS, individuals can play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those affected by the condition.

Throughout November, volunteers and advocates will work tirelessly to raise awareness and support individuals battling CRPS. By fostering a community of understanding and empathy, they aim to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals living with this debilitating condition.
