Woman dead and four hospitalised in horror crash on Scots road as probe launched

A woman has tragically died in a horror road crash in Galashiels, Scotland, with four others hospitalised as a result. The incident occurred on Abbotsford Road, part of the A7 route, earlier today. The victim, an 83-year-old woman, was driving a black Seat Altea vehicle and was involved in a collision with a grey Honda CRV around 10.55 am.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, transporting the woman to Borders General Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The 78-year-old male driver of the Honda and his three passengers, a 75-year-old woman, a 46-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old boy, were also taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was temporarily closed for investigation and was reopened around 3pm. Sergeant Jennifer Niven extended condolences to the deceased woman’s family and appealed to witnesses to come forward with any information or dash-cam footage that could aid in the investigation.
