A grandfather has been left scarred for life after a horrific road rage incident that led to a brutal bike crash. Duncan Ronaldson, 67, was cycling on the A92 in Glenrothes, Fife, when he was rammed by a Vauxhall Astra driven by Craig McComb, 37, on August 12, 2022. The collision caused Duncan to crash onto the ground, resulting in severe disfigurements and injuries. McComb, who was a stranger to Duncan, was sentenced to three years and eight months in jail for deliberately using his car as a weapon to knock down the cyclist.
Duncan shared his harrowing experience, expressing how the incident has left him physically and mentally scarred for life. He had to retire early from his job due to the trauma and injuries sustained in the attack. Despite ongoing therapy to help him cope with the emotional impact, Duncan continues to struggle with the aftermath of the road rage attack. The court heard how McComb aggressively targeted Duncan, causing the cyclist to crash and suffer severe injuries, including a severed collarbone and foot infections. Duncan’s life-changing injuries required extensive hospitalization and surgeries. McComb was handed a lengthy driving ban and convicted of assault resulting in severe injury and permanent disfigurement. Duncan expressed relief that justice was served and hopes that the incident raises awareness of road rage consequences.
