Additional incidents took place at various locations, with a 14-year-old male arrested and charged in connection with fireworks offences. In a separate operation, fireworks and petrol cans were seized from an address.
Edinburgh City Council leader, Cammy Day, has called for a ban on public fireworks sales to prevent a recurrence of violent incidents like those experienced last year. The disorder comes amid established Firework Control Zones across Edinburgh, where most fireworks are prohibited between November 1 and 10 unless part of a licensed display. Chief Superintendent David Robertson condemned the violence, reassuring that steps are being taken to identify and hold accountable those involved.
