Renfrew Expectant Father Facing Court for Incident with Girlfriend
Renfrewshire Live – A Renfrew man, Kacper Kacperczyk, is awaiting sentencing following an incident involving his pregnant girlfriend. Kacperczyk, 22, admitted to causing “fear or alarm” on October 21 when he engaged in a heated argument with his partner, resulting in him punching a mirror that shattered. The altercation stemmed from a disagreement over his absence from the hospital where his girlfriend was receiving treatment.
Appearing in Paisley Sheriff Court, Kacperczyk was visibly injured with cuts on his knuckles. The court heard that the couple had been together for about a year, and his girlfriend was 22 weeks pregnant during the incident. The argument escalated throughout the day, leading to Kacperczyk punching the mirror, causing both damage to the mirror and harm to himself.
Police were called to the scene, and Kacperczyk was eventually arrested and charged. His defence agent highlighted that stress-induced drug misuse was a contributing factor to the outburst and assured that the girlfriend did not feel fearful but rather concerned for Kacperczyk’s well-being. Both parties reportedly wish to continue their relationship.
Sheriff Lindsay Kooner deferred sentencing to enable the prosecution to gather the woman’s input on a possible non-harassment order. Kacperczyk remains under bail conditions prohibiting contact with his partner until the next court appearance.
This case underscores the complexities of domestic disputes and the need for mature handling of stressful situations, particularly in anticipation of impending parenthood.
