Son of NHS doctor who died from cancer launches fundraising campaign in memory of his father
Louie Beausang, at the young age of seven, tragically lost his father, Pat, to blood cancer. Even after 15 years, he still considers his late father, a respected NHS doctor, as his hero. Pat, who worked as a consultant with NHS Forth Valley, passed away from leukaemia at the age of 43 in 2009. In honour of his father’s memory, Louie is determined to raise funds to support those fighting against the disease.
In May this year, Louie, along with friends and supporters, participated in the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for Blood Cancer UK. Following the success of this event, Louie is now planning a special fundraising event called ‘The Pat Beausang Legacy Ball’ at the Stirling Court Hotel in February. Through this event, he aims not only to surpass the previous fundraising efforts but also to ensure his father’s legacy lives on.
As a tribute to his father, Louie shared, “Even though I only had seven short years of life with my dad, he is forever my hero and the person I look up to most.” He described his father as a dedicated individual in every aspect of his life, be it as a family man, doctor, or runner. The upcoming ball will be a night of celebration to honour Pat’s memory and continue his legacy.
Louie’s fundraising efforts are motivated by his father’s own battle with cancer, which inspired him to support other families facing similar challenges. Through events like the legacy ball, Louie aims to provide resources and assistance to those affected by blood cancer. His ultimate goal is to make a positive impact and ensure that his father’s memory lives on by helping others in need.
The Pat Beausang Legacy Ball promises to be an evening of celebration, music, and cherished memories, reflecting the enduring legacy of a beloved father and doctor. With the support of the community and sponsors like Stirling Fitness, Louie is determined to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
