A man has been sentenced to four and a half years in jail after being convicted of sex offences against girls in Lanarkshire. Ross McCafferty, aged 23, has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely following his trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court. The sentence was imposed by Sheriff John Speir, who also issued 10-year non-harassment orders in relation to each of McCafferty’s victims.
The charges McCafferty was found guilty of included sexually assaulting an 11 to 12-year-old girl in Blantyre between 2020 and 2022, molesting a 16-year-old girl in Stonehouse in 2023, and assaulting another female in Hamilton earlier this year. Additionally, he was convicted of sending explicit messages and images to a 13-year-old girl and breaching bail conditions related to his internet use.
