Youngsters from the Scout group in Burnside had a fantastic time recently at a fancy dress party. The 113th Burnside Scouts, from the youngest Squirrels aged four to the oldest 17-year-old Explorer scouts, gathered at their hall on Crawfurd Road for some spooky Hallowe’en fun. Activities included dooking for apples, a rope climbing challenge, eating treacle-coated scones hanging from the ceiling, dancing to scary music, and playing party games.
Most of the participants went all out with their costumes, even the volunteer leaders joined in the fun. Michelle Mackenzie, the Squirrel Scout leader, expressed how much joy the children had at the event and highlighted the importance of Scouts in developing life skills through exciting and safe programmes. The group still has openings for their Squirrels sessions on Friday nights and encourages both young individuals and adults interested in volunteering to get in touch with the Group Scout Leader Graeme.
The event showcased the spirit of camaraderie and fun that Scouts aim to foster among its members of all ages. The festive atmosphere and engaging activities reflected the inclusive and adventurous nature of the Scout Association, providing a platform for youngsters to learn, grow, and create lasting memories together.
