A bodybuilder from Scotland who was convicted of rape made one of his victims sign a “behaviour contract” during a period of terror. John Allen, aged 28, was sentenced to nine years in prison at the High Court in Glasgow after being found guilty of 10 charges involving two women who were traumatized by his actions. Despite denying the accusations which spanned six years, Allen was caught on camera raping one of the women, with the footage capturing her screams as the screen went blank. He claimed that any sexual contact was consensual and blamed one of the victims for “playing the bad girl”.
In addition to the jail term, Judge Fiona Tait ordered that Allen be supervised for four years following his release, stating that the impact of his crimes had caused significant harm to the victims. The offences took place in Allen’s hometown of Denny in Stirlingshire, where jurors were shown distressing videos of him raping one of the women and subjecting her to physical abuse. The victim described fearing for her life during the ordeal, which included being punched, dragged upstairs, and stamped upon.
In one instance, Allen ambushed the woman in her car, wearing a mask and ordering her to drive while attempting to grab the steering wheel to steer the car towards a building. The victim managed to escape and alert the police, leading to Allen’s arrest with incriminating evidence found on his phone. Despite denying any physical or sexual violence towards the victims, Allen was found guilty of charges including rape, attempted rape, and assault.
Allen’s defence lawyer, Tony Lenehan KC, maintained his innocence on his behalf following the sentencing. Allen was placed on the sex offenders list and issued with non-harassment orders preventing him from contacting the victims indefinitely.
