A teenage boy in Motherwell was ambushed and robbed of his e-scooter by 19-year-old Kyle Adam in a recent incident. The robbery took place on Leven Street, where Adam not only took the boy’s e-scooter but also his phone and headphones. It was revealed in court that the assault occurred on February 21, as Adam admitted to the charges of assault and robbery at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Rebecca Clark, the prosecutor, mentioned that the robbery took place after a girl informed Adam that she had met the boy on Airbles Road. Adam and the girl then went to the location where the incident occurred. The boy was pushed off his e-scooter by Adam, who proceeded to physically assault him by headbutting him. Adam then demanded the boy to surrender his jacket, threatening him in the process.
Following the incident, the stolen items, including the phone and headphones, were recovered by the police. The boy, clearly distressed by the ordeal, ran home to inform his mother about what had happened. Sheriff Louise Gallacher has deferred the sentencing of Adam to next month to allow for background reports to be prepared. Adam’s bail, which includes a curfew from 9pm to 6am, was continued.
The teenage victim of this robbery must have been terrified and traumatised by the attack, which highlights the importance of ensuring the safety of young people in our communities.
