Harmony Montgomery’s Mother Assists Police in Search for Toddler’s Remains
Crystal Sorey, the mother of the late five-year-old Harmony Montgomery, has initiated a renewed effort to locate her daughter’s remains at a park in New Hampshire nearly five years after the tragic incident. According to prosecutors, Adam Montgomery, the girl’s father, allegedly disposed of her body in Mary O’Malley Park in Chelsea, Massachusetts, after killing her. Montgomery was sentenced to 56 years in prison for murdering Harmony and concealing her corpse before finally discarding it in March 2020. Despite extensive searches, Harmony’s remains have yet to be located.
Authorities have identified a 1,500-square-mile area stretching from Manchester to Boston as a possible location where Adam Montgomery might have hidden Harmony’s body. Recently, a search was conducted at Mary O’Malley Park, marking the first exploration of this specific site in the ongoing investigation. Crystal Sorey urged more volunteers to join the search, expressing her unwavering commitment to finding her daughter: “If you love her or if she’s left an impact in your life in any way, you’re close enough and you’re not doing anything, come on down. Look for her. I’m never gonna give up.”
Despite the ongoing search efforts, Sorey disclosed her anguish, wishing that Adam Montgomery would disclose the whereabouts of Harmony. She revealed the last time she saw her daughter was via a video call in April 2019, prior to Harmony being reported missing in 2021. Testimonies during Adam Montgomery’s trial shed light on the harrowing abuse Harmony endured before her demise. Harmony’s stepmother testified that the family, including her two sons with Adam, had been evicted and were living in a car, culminating in the fatal event in December 2019.
In a further development, Sorey has filed a negligence lawsuit against New Hampshire’s Division for Children, Youth and Families, accusing the agency of disregarding multiple warning signs indicating that Harmony was suffering abuse at the hands of her father. The lawsuit alleges that the agency failed to address concerning reports from neighbours and others about the household environment, ultimately leading to Harmony experiencing severe abuse and neglect prior to her death. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and unspecified financial compensation.
Michael Garrity, a spokesperson for the state’s Attorney General, stated that the complaint would undergo review, with a response provided as deemed appropriate.
