North Lanarkshire Council’s housing team achieved double success at the Chartered Institute of Housing Scottish Awards ceremony. The council’s Ukrainian Resettlement Team was honoured with the Housing Team of the Year award, while Connall Smith, a quantity surveyor graduate apprentice, received the Apprentice of the Year award. The council’s Ukrainian Resettlement Team was established in response to the conflict in Ukraine, assisting around 200 displaced families by repurposing empty properties to provide homes. The team not only refurbished the properties but also supported the families in settling and integrating into the community, offering various initiatives such as employability projects and communication courses. Additionally, they collaborated with schools to raise awareness about refugee issues.
Connall Smith, a standout apprentice, was commended for his dedication and contribution to the council’s new supply team.
