Pedalling 64 miles over 12 hours to reach Strathaven, McGuinness noted the gruelling nature of the hills on his route. Despite the tough journey, he was greeted with cheers and support from the community upon his arrival at 7.50 pm. After a much-needed ice bath at the Strathaven Hotel to soothe his muscles, McGuinness reflected on the overwhelming turnout, describing the experience as “absolutely magic.”
Embarking on the final 18.5 miles of his remarkable cycling feat from Wrexham to Glasgow, covering almost 300 miles across Wales, England, and Scotland in five days, McGuinness shared his excitement for the concluding leg. Zoe Ball of BBC Radio 2 commended the support McGuinness received, with Sir Tom Hunter pledging to match donations up to £3 million. The total raised for Children in Need stood at an impressive £6,577,494.
