Paddy McGuinness made a pit stop in East Kilbride, where he was seen enjoying a Greggs sausage roll while interacting with fans. The TV presenter and radio host had just completed the final leg of his Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge for Children in Need. This challenge involved riding 265 miles across Wales, England and Scotland on a Raleigh Chopper bike. Despite the long journey, Paddy took some time to refuel with a tasty pastry and engage with a crowd of locals who gathered outside Greggs at the Kingsgate Retail Park in East Kilbride.
Starting his day at 6.45am from the Strathaven Hotel, Paddy embarked on the last 18.5 miles of his cycling challenge. Riding a customised Raleigh Chopper with only three gears, he cycled from Wrexham to Glasgow over five days. Zoe Ball provided updates on Paddy’s progress on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show as he passed through East Kilbride and Rutherglen en route to the city centre.
At Greggs, Paddy was greeted by Sir Tom Hunter, who pledged to match donations up to £3 million for Children in Need. Reflecting on his journey, Paddy expressed gratitude towards the support he received from fans along the way. The total amount raised for Children in Need during Paddy’s challenge reached an impressive £6,577,494.
The BBC Radio 2 presenter’s efforts can be further supported by donating on the BBC Children in Need website. A TV documentary capturing Paddy’s entire challenge, titled “Paddy: The Ride Of My Life,” is set to air on BBC ONE on Tuesday, November 19, followed by his appearance reading the CBeebies Bedtime Story on Friday, November 15.
