Harry Kane’s availability for Bayern Munich’s upcoming Champions League match against Aston Villa hangs in the balance as the striker faces a late fitness evaluation. The Tottenham Hotspur forward sustained an ankle injury during Bayern’s recent Bundesliga fixture against Bayer Leverkusen.
After being forced off the pitch due to the injury, Kane participated in training on Tuesday alongside his teammates before the club’s trip to Birmingham. However, the final decision on his participation in the crucial European tie will only be made on the day of the match following an assessment on Wednesday morning.
Bayern Munich manager, Vincent Kompany, provided an update on Kane’s status, mentioning, “I think you have seen he was on the pitch today. Training went well, we will still have to wait until tomorrow to see how the situation is and tomorrow we will make the correct decision.” Kompany further expressed his hopes for Kane’s quick recovery, stating, “He trained today and hopefully everything will work out fine.”
Kompany, who recently departed Burnley following their relegation to the Championship, conveyed his readiness for the challenge with Bayern Munich against Aston Villa. Reflecting on his previous encounters with Villa, the former Manchester City defender praised Villa’s performance in the last season under Unai Emery, terming it “extraordinary.”
Acknowledging Villa’s strong home support and commendable form, Kompany emphasised Bayern Munich’s preparedness for such matches and the team’s motivation to secure a positive outcome. He highlighted the importance of focusing on the task at hand and drawing on his experiences to guide his players effectively.
As Kompany gears up for the Champions League fixture at Villa Park, he underlined the significance of his team’s performance while ensuring that past experiences do not cloud the present challenge. With a keen eye on securing a favourable result, Kompany acknowledged the familiarity with the stadium, the opposition manager, and the need for effective communication within the Bayern Munich squad.
With uncertainties surrounding Harry Kane’s availability and Bayern Munich’s thorough preparations, the upcoming clash against Aston Villa promises to be an intriguing encounter, as both teams aim to secure a positive start in their Champions League campaign.
